Digital Anatomist Games Revived

Jakob Skott and Therese Storheden spent six months in SIG from 1999-2000 as part of their masters theses in computer science at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. During that time Jakob, with help from Therese, implemented two games for the Digital Anatomist atlases, a jigsaw puzzle and a quiz. The quiz was modeled after a TV show popular at that time, called "Who Wants to be a Millionaire". The games were written in Java Swing, and deployed as Java applets.

Over time these apps suffered bit rot, and eventually stopped working maybe around 2010 or so. In the last few weeks, as part of my efforts to revive some of our old code, I worked with GitHub Co-Pilot to first get the Java programs working, and then had Co-Pilot translate the Java code to Vue.js, a modern Javascript framework. The result is that these games are now working again, and are accessible from each of the DA-Atlas pages. Pretty impressive what Co-Pilot can do.
